The Roses Portfolio is the foundation for contemporary artist Garrett Gassman. It preserves and discusses the complexity and simplicity of his work, with a main goal of sharing his story. As a gallery, it curates and hosts exhibitions in the US and abroad. It is known for its unique exhibition style that creates an intimate art experience."
Founded by Garrett Gassman, The Roses Portfolio takes its name from a 2017 fashion editorial shoot in which he photographed four roses on a studio floor. This simple image evolved into a symbol of vulnerability, masculinity, romance, and his Portland roots. These elements define Gassman’s practice, which incorporates both photography and mixed-media painting. He created his first collection "Surreal Memory" during the 2020 COVID shutdowns, and launched his gallery in 2022. During the same period, he began expanding his work to include mixed-media painting.
To bring this foundation to life, I developed a visual identity and digital system that mirrors the gallery's intimate atmosphere. My role involved translating the artist’s transition from photography to mixed-media into a cohesive brand language—ensuring that every digital touchpoint felt as deliberate and evocative as the physical exhibitions.

Designing The Roses Portfolio was a journey that started with a desire to find independence, before it came to be Garrett was a artist that was struggling to find his way in the art world and because of that his work never really seemed to have a good chance to take off, let alone a good gallery or outlet to put it out into the world.
It wasn't until 2024 that he began to think about creating his own gallery but at the time didn't know where to start or how to run one. through a long period of reflection, research and the desire to over come this challenge Garrett got started on the first piece of the puzzle, the name.
